Cookies N’ Cream

So the winner of the cupcake recipe challenge is cookies n’ cream, although i did enjoy how creative the suggestions were especially the pickle cupcake. What i was thinking was there would be a oreo on the bottom then bleached cupcake batter. A bleached batter is one that is all white, playing on the black and white aspect of the cookies n’ cream. Then the frosting would be buttercream with chopped up oreos in it. If you have any questions or have any other suggestions to add to the cookies n’ cream recipe, tell me in the comment box. Now i will be starting to develop and perfect the recipe before i make you the cupcakes. P.S. If you like to create different flavors and try cupcake making, start with a basic cupcake recipe and frosting and add from there. Careful with the oven!

Voting Time

So it is time to vote for the cupcake flavor. Each person will only get one vote. Leave your vote in the comments box and when school is over, I will tally them up and tell miss blessing the winner so she can tell you. If there is a tie each person will get one vote to decide on one of the two. Here are the contenders you can vote for.

Cupcakes

Hi guys, i read your comments and you are doing such a great job writing encouraging comments, to answer you question all of our chickens are laying chickens( although my dad threatens to throw the chickens in the stew pot if they don’t lay). The last time I saw you guys you were in kindergarten and you were just little things. From the pictures you all now look like young ladies and gentleman.

So the purpose of my post is i need your help. If you remember or if you ask any of my classmates(especially those who like sweets) might remember that I like to make cupcakes. There are laws that prevent people from selling homemade sweets so unfortunately I can’t sell my cupcakes. But i still love to bake and invent different cupcake recipes. Some of my favorite newly formed recipes include my s’more, hot cocoa, key lime pie,and lemon blueberry. I need your help by suggesting either cupcake combinations or your favorite dessert I could make into a cupcake. Then we will put the suggestions to a vote and the winning I will try to devise into a cupcake recipe. If the recipe turns out I will either send you all the recipe to make at home of send you cupcakes. I will start the voting on Thursday so you have from now until then to make your suggestions and then vote. Also, my cow tweet had a baby girl we named Tickled Pink, and she is so cute. Hope to hear from you soon!

Moving, Again

Hi guys, sorry I have not written in a while, things have been busy. If you have not heard yet my family is moving, again. My great-grandmother who is 96 recently had a stroke. She is getting better everyday but she needs someone to take care of her once she moves back home to her house. Her house is small, but she has a room in her basement and in her attic that we are using as bedrooms. Mine is the attic and it has beautiful, original hardwood floors. The only problem is the attic is hotter that a sauna because warm air rises. So we are adding a lot of fans to make it so my cat and I will not sweat to death. One of the nice things about her house is her kitchen is huge and she has a wood stove to keep the house warm. The other nice thing is has a barn and a pasture to keep our 3 cows in, there names are Bettina( my heifer) who is due to have a baby in May, Gonzo my 6 year old milking cow, and Barbie my 4 year old dry cow( not milking because is due to have a baby in December. Then our 2 ponies are going to be pastured in my grandmothers field until winter when they will be brought into the barn. My 5 year old Tweet is being boarded at a friend’s farm. Then we bought a coop for our 12 chickens.

This year I will be starting 7th grade as a homeschooler. It is fun being homeschooled  because i can show my cows and bring my school work. But do not be fooled, it is not easier than conventional school. For one I am not allowed to wear my pj’s to school, so i do have a dress code. Next we still do regular hour days, my day is not just 2 hours of school. I do a full schedule of work, mostly 6-7 hours of school a day. Third, I get less breaks of of school. Not to say that homeschooling is not fun, on nice days i can do it outside. I love homeschooling, but i still miss all of you and all the friends i have made. Talk later, bye for now.

Your friend Farm Girl.

Mini Homeschool Lesson

Today I am going to teach you about the legend of the city of Rome. A legend is a story told by generation to generation until it is finally written down. Most legends are not real. This legend tells about how the city of Rome( the capitol of Italy) was build and named.                                                                                                                                   Once upon a time, there was a wicked king with two infant nephews named Remus and Romulus. The king did not want the boys to threaten his rule so he put them in a basket and sent them down the river. Legend says the boys where found by a wolf and raised by a shepherd. Later, the boys overthrew the uncle and decided to build a new city to rule. Problem was they could not decide who was going to rule the new city and what to name it. Remus jumped over the ditch outside the city which is considered evil and was killed. Remulus then became the ruler and named the city ” Roma” or “Rome” after himself. So next time you argue or squable with your siblings or parents be thankful it is not over what to name or how to rule the city.

Mini Homeschool Lesson

For my mini homeschool lesson today I am going to teach you about the different layers that make up your skin. There are three layers. The first layer is the epidermis which is the part of the skin that dies and falls off or is scrubbed off. In your lifetime you will grow approximately 1,000 new skins. The next layer is the dermis which a thick layer of skin that holds the sebaceous gland, the sweat gland, and the hair follicle. The sebaceous gland is where oil for your skin is produced. The sweat gland is where you guessed it, your sweat is produced. The hair follicle is where the hair on your skin is anchored in. The last layer is the subcutaneous fat layer is a layer of fat where excess energy is stored. This layer holds the nerves in your skin and contains loose connective tissue which makes skin flexibe and connects it to the muscles. As you can tell the little piece of your body, skin, is really a complicated piece designed by God.

Fall Poem

A small breeze rustled the leaves of the grandfather trees planted firmly in the soil.                                                       I closed my eyes and just listened, I listened to the birds carring on a conversation about the latest news in the forest.                                                                                                                                                                               I listened to the chipmunks scurrying about the dry leaves buisily looking for nuts to store up for the barren days of winter.                                                                                                                                                                                I listened to the forest and I knew all was well in the forest on that fall day.

Mini Homeschool Lesson

Thank you all for your prayers and I am feeling much better. Over the last week we have gotten over two feet of snow and since where I live there are no hills at all we have resorted to sliding done the huge snow drifts the plow has made. For my mini homeschool lesson I am going to teach you about the Nile River in Egypt. The Nile River was so important to the Egyptians that they based their seasons on it and they even worshiped it. The three seasons were the flooding season, the planting season, and the harvest season. June through September the Nile River flooded and all planting was stopped so the Nile could fertilize the dry ground. When the waters finally started to dry up the Egyptians dug ditches to hold back the water to use for irrigation. During the flooding season they built houses. October through February was planting season when the Egyptians planted and watered their crops. Then in March and May the ground started to dry up and it was time to harvest the crops. The Nile was also critical for protection because cataracts( places in the river where rocks collect and form waterfalls made it so any enemy trying to attack would have to try to cross the desert which was very risky because of the lack of food and water. This is why the Nile River was important for the Egyptians in ancient Egypt.

Mini Homeschool Lesson

Today for my mini Homeschool lesson I am going to teach you about the tide of the ocean. If you visit the beach at a certain time of day you will see the tide is very high, and if you go back later the tide will be low. How does the tide go from high to low? The tides are controlled by the gravitational pull of the moon. At high tide the two end of the earth’s water is being pulled up towards the moon because the moon is direct ally above the earth. When the ends experience high tide the sides experience low tide. The vice-versa, the sides experience high tide and the ends low tide. There is a time when there is barely  difference between high tide and low tide this is called a spring tide. Then there is a time when there are very low tides and very high tides. This is called a neap tide. I hope you enjoyed learning about tides! If you have an idea for a mini homeschool  lesson write it in the comment box and maybe I will use it!
